French Immersion Program
French Immersion programming provides students with the opportunity to acquire or maintain proficiency in French. Students receive 100% of their instruction in French in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and part of Grade 2. Students begin formal English Language Arts instruction in the second term of Grade 2 and continue to receive ELA in Grades 3 to 12.
Students do not require previous knowledge of French to register in Kindergarten or Grade 1. Students entering the program after Grade 1 must have previously attended a French Immersion program or have an equivalent knowledge of French. Late French Immersion is available starting in Grade 7 for students with no previous knowledge of French.
French Immersion is intended for children whose first language is not French. The language of communication between home and school is English.
